Capt. Arthur F. Steck

Passed On September 3rd, 2000 Born in San Diego, attended school in Los Angeles. Graduated from Los Angeles High and attended Santa Monica Junior College. Worked for Consairways in Army Reserve from 1942 until 1945. Enlisted in US Navy 1945 and discharged in 1946. Returned to San Diego and worked as Aircraft Mechanic at Convair while attending the Friedkin School of Aeronautics. He obtained his flight Certificate and became a commercial test pilot for Convair. In 1963 joined, the fledgling PSA as a first officer and was promoted to Captain in 1964. He flew for PSA until 1979, when he was transferred as a flight instructor at the re-knowned PSA Flight Training Center in Scripps Ranch. He retired from PSA in 1983. Worked as a volunteer at the Rancho San Diego (Cottonwood) golf course and later as a docent at the San Diego Aerospace Museum until his passing. He was especially proud of establishing, after two years of hard work, the PSA exhibit that is now permanently on show there. We ALL owe him a lot in what he accomplished on our behalf and will miss him. He is survived by his loving wife Elsie, a son, a daughter in law and six grandchildren.
